Description

G’day! My name is Koya and I am a gorgeous female koala. I’m named after a member of a South Korean boy band, but I’m a true-blue Aussie! I am very dark in colour compared to my other koala friends, making me easy to identify when you visit me at Australia Zoo.
Each day, my keepers deliver me a fresh buffet of leaf, which is always my favourite variety of eucalypt species. After my tummy is full, I settle in for a snooze. It’s an activity I love, so I am known to do it for up to 20 hours every day! For the four hours that I am awake each day, I have a big personality and lots of love to give. I’m known for my great cuddles I give my keepers and koala flatmates.
My mum Gumnut and dad Baloo are part of Australia Zoo’s breeding program. One day, when I’m old enough, I might be a proud mum to my own koala joey and contribute to the plight to save my species from extinction.

Most of the inclusions in your adoption pack are online, meaning that your adoption is not only helping one of our animals, but the environment too!
All animal adoptions are a single payment and last for 12 months from the date of purchase. You can choose to renew your adoption after this time and continue your support of our animals and wildlife conservation efforts.

For Gold or Platinum adoptions, if you are unable to use the included guest passes you can opt to swap the guest passes for a plush toy animal.

Age, group size and animal restrictions apply; animal encounters are subject to the usual encounter terms and conditions for each animal. Due to health and safety restrictions, saltwater crocodiles are not available for guest encounters; another animal/species will be substituted.
Please note: While all of the animals available for adoption are usually on display at the Zoo and/or participate in encounters, adopting an animal does not guarantee the chance of seeing or meeting them if visiting the Zoo. Animal availability is subject to change; there may be times when animals may be temporarily off display due to unforeseen circumstances, such as veterinary check-ups or enclosure maintenance. If booking one of our amazing animal encounters to meet your adoptee, please advise staff of the animal you adopt at the time of booking.
Animal adoptions and associated elements are non-refundable, non-transferable and not redeemable for cash.
