Description

Hello down there! My name is Forest and I’m a gigantic giraffe that calls Australia Zoo home. I have long legs and a long neck, meaning I stand to be 5.5 metres tall and weigh about 1900 kilograms. To match my enormous size, I have a big personality and lots of love to give keepers and visitors. I spend my days roaming Australia Zoo’s African savanna browsing for acacia leaves and twigs.
I have my keepers wrapped around my tongue – literally! You’ll often find me eating carrots right out of their hand. I do eat a lot, 45 kilograms of food each day, to be exact.
I was born at Auckland Zoo in 2007 and came to Australia Zoo when I was two years of age. I am now an integral part of the giraffe breeding program at Australia Zoo. I am a very lucky boy, because I have a couple of gorgeous girlfriends and over the years, I’ve become a father several times over.
I’m an ambassador for my species, because giraffe are considered vulnerable in the wild! I hope that I can spread the message of giraffe conservation far and wide, in the hope of saving my wild counterparts from extinction.

Terms & Conditions

Most of the inclusions in your adoption pack are online, meaning that your adoption is not only helping one of our animals, but the environment too!
All animal adoptions are a single payment and last for 12 months from the date of purchase. You can choose to renew your adoption after this time and continue your support of our animals and wildlife conservation efforts.

Age, group size and animal restrictions apply; animal encounters are subject to the usual encounter terms and conditions for each animal. Due to health and safety restrictions, saltwater crocodiles are not available for guest encounters; another animal/species will be substituted.
Please note: While all of the animals available for adoption are usually on display at the Zoo and/or participate in encounters, adopting an animal does not guarantee the chance of seeing or meeting them if visiting the Zoo. Animal availability is subject to change; there may be times when animals may be temporarily off display due to unforeseen circumstances, such as veterinary check-ups or enclosure maintenance. If booking one of our amazing animal encounters to meet your adoptee, please advise staff of the animal you adopt at the time of booking.
Animal adoptions and associated elements are non-refundable, non-transferable and not redeemable for cash.
