Description

Hi there, my name is Elle and I’m a beautiful common wombat! I am a playful, but, gentle soul who loves to go on walks around the breathtaking grounds at Australia Zoo. My keepers often say that I am a ‘true’ wombat as I can be stubborn and I like to get my own way, especially when I don’t want to go back to my burrow.
You may have seen my story on Crikey! It’s the Irwins. I unexpectedly lost my mum when I was just a little joey. My keepers stepped in to raise me and gave me lots of love. Over time my Aunt Kato and Burrow, have taught how to behave like a wombat – this is where I may have also learnt the wombat stubbornness!
I am growing fast and it won’t be long until I am as big as my Aunties. For now, I spend my time digging burrows and running around my home with the energy levels that only a joey has! Keep an eye out for me next time you visit the Zoo.

Most of the inclusions in your adoption pack are online, meaning that your adoption is not only helping one of our animals, but the environment too!
All animal adoptions are a single payment and last for 12 months from the date of purchase. You can choose to renew your adoption after this time and continue your support of our animals and wildlife conservation efforts.

For Gold or Platinum adoptions, if you are unable to use the included guest passes you can opt to swap the guest passes for a plush toy animal.

Age, group size and animal restrictions apply; animal encounters are subject to the usual encounter terms and conditions for each animal. Due to health and safety restrictions, saltwater crocodiles are not available for guest encounters; another animal/species will be substituted.
Please note: While all of the animals available for adoption are usually on display at the Zoo and/or participate in encounters, adopting an animal does not guarantee the chance of seeing or meeting them if visiting the Zoo. Animal availability is subject to change; there may be times when animals may be temporarily off display due to unforeseen circumstances, such as veterinary check-ups or enclosure maintenance. If booking one of our amazing animal encounters to meet your adoptee, please advise staff of the animal you adopt at the time of booking.
